PERSON ST. PARK(ing) DAY
PARK(ing) Day is an annual worldwide one-day event when citizens convert parking spaces into people places, or parklets. In 2021, Placemaking Studio and bike advocacy group Oaks & Spokes hosted a Park(ing) Day event in front Person Street’s So and So Books, thanks to a grant from “Better Block.”
From parking lots to plazas.
City Councilman Jonathan Melton came by to hang out and discuss bike lanes and other topics with passers-by. SO refreshing to be able to casually hang out with a councilman and to sit and chat with whomever showed up. We need more spaces that allow for serendipitous meetings and connection.
So much surface parking is begging to be re-imagined!
