RALEIGH’S FIRST PARKLET

Wine Authorities asked Placemaking Studio to create Raleigh's first pop-up parklet for a small event they were hosting. Using simple planters, outdoor rugs, and bamboo screens in the back of a pick up truck, in less than an hour, a parking space became a place to hang out, and soon people were stopping by, mixing and mingling.

Another example of how we can create temporary places in a light, quick, cheap way and how much of our urban land that is devoted exclusively to cars could be shared and put to better use.
